AT&T Offers Better Data Plan

In a last minute effort to hold onto subscribers before Verizon gets the iPhone, AT&T said its $25 a month data plan will now come with twice the data use -- from 2-gigabytes to 4-gigabytes -- and include hotspot tethering to other devices, all at no cost extra.

The Dallas, Texas-based carrier said the new plan will be introduced on February 13 with the release of the HTC Inspire 4G. It will offer the plan with other phones, but declined to confirm whether it will be available with iPhone models.
Previously, AT&T's $25 plan only came with 2-gigabytes of use, and the ability to connect to only one other device.
When asked how close it was to providing the offer for the iPhone, a spokesman said, "We are working on it," with nothing further to share.
To draw customers from AT&T, Verizon is offering a $30 a month unlimited data plan, and the ability to act as a hotspot for up to five additional devices, for new iPhone buyers. It started taking pre-orders from existing customers this morning and expects to release the device in stores on February 10.
Verizon and AT&T have been duking it out ever since Verizon confirmed it will offer the iPhone, an offer once exclusive to AT&T. AT&T has argued it has speedier processing and multi-tasking features, while Verizon has pushed back with the argument it has better coverage and is more reliable.
