It's finally official: Windows Phone Mango has been released to manufacturers and is way on track to arriving to existing Windows Phone devices this fall, according to Microsoft itself.
“This marks the point in the development process where we hand code to our handset and mobile operator partners to optimize Mango for their specific phone and network configurations. Here on the Windows Phone team, we now turn to preparing for the update process,” corporate VP of WP Engineering, Terry Myerson, explains on the Windows Phone Blog explains.
From here on we can hope that phone makers and carriers can squeeze their testing to fit the fall timeline. Most importantly, though, by reaching RTM status, we can be sure that the code is now finalized. Mango is the latest update to Microsoft's mobile platform bringing 500 new features including major novelties like multitasking and an improved IE9 with hardware acceleration and support for HTML5.
